About 2019-2020 SPORT 2 Project

This Suicide Prevention Web site was a joint effort between the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH) and the Los Angeles County Office of Education’s (LACOE) Center for Distance and Online Learning (CDOL.) The goal was to assist the more than 80 school districts, charter networks and private schools in Los Angeles County as they developed and implemented comprehensive policies in suicide prevention, intervention and postvention.

In addition to this website, LACOE and DMH have partnered to provide local education agencies with a capacity-building project to improve suicide prevention and student resiliency. This project was called SPORT2, Suicide Prevention Ongoing Resiliency Training. It helped teachers, administrators, counselors, and other mental health staff to learn more about their critical role in preventing youth suicide and fostering resilience in their students.

CDOL is a nationally recognized leader in distance and online learning and has been in operation since 1990. CDOL designs and operates this website.
